F.O.: – It’s correct. In addition to this, at BLT Brilliant Mexico we focus on providing personalized advice from the project specification to the delivery of the equipment in operation, accompanying our clients in each stage of their project until they go to the Service Department.
R del A.: – In that sense it is similar to the traditional multinationals that we know …

R del A.: – The headquarters are in Mexico City? Do you have headquarters in other cities?
J.L.: – Indeed, the corporate offices are located in Mexico City. We have branches in Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Puebla, and we also have two upcoming openings in Tijuana and Mérida.

R del A.: – What standards do you follow for manufacturing: Those of the Headquarters or others adapted to Mexico?
F.O.: – Our Headquarters produce equipment for both the local and international markets. All products for export follow the European standards and directives in order to be globally competitive.
R del A.: – What are the most outstanding BLT Mexico products and the latest ones that have been launched on the market?
J.L.: – During our years of existence in Mexico we have tried to cover the different sectors existing in the industry, but without a doubt, we have penetrated strongly into the residential category and lately with a lot of presence in the high-flow commercial area such as shopping centers, department stores, and even airports. One of our featured products is our High Rise elevator, which we have installed in various residential and corporate projects nationwide.
Among the new products that we offer to our customers, are elevators with regenerative drive, which help to recover energy from the movement of the elevator and transform it into electric power. This electric power can be returned to the distribution center of the property and therefore be used within it. These types of technologies can help our clients obtain a LEED certification for their building.
In the same way, and in the midst of this pandemic, we have launched new products to help reduce the spread of this virus and others, such as elevator buttons that do not require physical contact, air purifiers for cabins, and bushing sterilizers for escalators and moving ramps. All of these products have laboratory tests and certificates of compliance.
R del A.: – Is BLT’s lift manufactured entirely abroad?
F.O.: – BLT Brilliant has the most advanced production lines in technology for manufacturing elevators, ladders, and conveyor belts; all the equipment sold in Mexico are manufactured in the Shenyang China factory, with the same standards, specifications, and quality control they use to market the products they sell all over the world.
The same factory for everyone, the same quality … the best.
R del A.: – How are you situated in relation to the “majors”, in the same plane, higher or lower in some cases?
J.L.: – The market is growing a lot in Mexico and customers are continually looking for alternatives to obtain greater value for their money. This causes great competition within the industry and causes a greater number of brands to arrive in Mexico year after year.
Thanks to the positioning we have achieved through over the years, we currently compete commercially in all large-scale projects in Mexico, projects where only brands and companies strongly recognized and with sufficient capacity usually compete. We have extensive knowledge of the benefits multinational brands with decades of existence offer to Mexico. However, we have the advantage of being agile and flexible for decision making in favor of our clients and also we work hard to offer a personalized service in all areas.
BLT AND ITS VISION OF THE MEXICAN ELEVATOR MARKET
R del A.: – If we talk about the elevator market development in Mexico, how could you describe it?
Are you in a time of growth? Was it very affected due to the pandemic?
F.O .: – Certainly the elevator market is in development as the country’s large cities increasingly count with fewer spaces for horizontal housing and a major densification is taking place because of vertical construction. This reason, added to the fact that people need to get around faster and efficiently from one point to another, leads to the growth of the sector. However, we are closely linked to the construction and unfortunately this sector was one of the main affected during the pandemic.
R del A.: – Which is BLT’s criterion to serve the Mexican market?
J.L.: – We deeply believe in long-term relationships term and that is why we have invested heavily in our Maintenance Department, above innovation and technology. , we consider ourselves we consider ourselves a service company. Our premise is to stay always close. Close to our clients, close to our teams and close to our people.
In addition to the natural areas of operation that entails this industry, maintenance and breakdown technicians, we have implemented in recent years the departments of Support Engineering, Major Repairs, Call Center and Customer Service.
We also have four spare parts warehouses and an own Laboratory for the repair of electronic components. In the digital and administrative sector we have also done major investments. Today we have a System Business Management (ERP) one of the most important worldwide, which gives us tools to be more effective in the administration, allows us to make statistics, data analysis and obtain key indicators performance instantly for you to take faster and more accurate decision-making. All of this impacted positively in the service we provide to our customers.
In the same way and with the aim of staying forefront, we also have a digital platform mobile (BLT GO!), which helps us to have relevant information in real time. It is really easy to use for field personnel and through it, we can get technical reports instantly.
Both platforms are available to any device internet connection, which makes easier our work and allows us to control, monitor and manage any corresponding operational and administrative issue.
R del A .: – An unavoidable issue today that you already mentioned before: Did COVID-19 affect the work of the company? Did they have to adapt?
J.L.: – Without a doubt 2020 was a year full of challenges worldwide, both in the workplace and in the personal, and although collateral effects caused by COVID-19 have not finished, we can proudly state that this situation has strengthened us as a company and is handing great teachings.
We know that we owe it to our clients, to our collaborators and our families, and it is for all of them that, together, we managed to take the appropriate measures and adapt to a different way of working.
We are proud of all our collaborators because thanks to their determination and effort we managed to keep the operation and service to our customers, despite unfavorable conditions.
R del A.: – Is it a modern market or is it aged?
And the one on escalators? We notice a great development of the Shopping and Malls sector throughout the country.
F.O.: – On one hand, we have a modern growing market, cities are growing and becoming engines of the world economy and its citizens are demanding a better life quality. Elevators, escalators, and lifts are solving the future transportation needs of people in buildings and cities. This is a digital age, at BLT Brilliant Mexico we know it and we are at the forefront of this change. We continue to demonstrate that innovation is in our essence, creating a new world of possibilities for us and our clients.
On the other hand, there is a huge number of elevators with old technology. We talk of 25 years old elevators and there are still even older of around 50 years of use; two-speed elevators, elevators with relay control, etc. There is certainly a great opportunity for the modernization market, which far from just a business issue has become a necessity to achieve the new technology and to reduce incidents, bringing teams to regulatory latest compliance and world safety standards.
R del A .: – And the training of technical teams? Does México give courses providing technical information in companies, schools or engineering universities? After all we are talking about the second transportation means in the world, taking in account the number of people being carried on.
J.L .: – In the case of BLT Brilliant México, we have highly qualified, trained, and certified personnel by our holding company. We also have a continuous training plan involving external courses in mechanics, electricity and electronics specialized institutes. These are complemented by internal training provided by our experts and that is specially focused on specific knowledge such as troubleshooting, instrumentation, safety procedures, among others.
Similarly, last year we started a Program of Trainees focused on service technicians, and this year we have also included engineers. We like to invest in human talent because we are sure that this will be profitable for everyone.
